Founded in 1894 and headquartered in London, UK, Reed Elsevier plc (NYSE: RUK; LSE; REL) is a publisher of business, educational, legal, and scientific information to scientists, lawyers, teachers and business professionals. The company and Reed Elsevier NV equally own Reed Elsevier Group plc, a $7.7 billion company based in London. In May 2007, it announced its partnership with Rice Science, a quarterly publication, to become part of the China Collection on Elsevier's ScienceDirect online platform, introducing advancements and achievements in rice sciences. In September 2008, the company completed the acquisition of ChoicePoint Inc. for $4.1 billion. ChoicePoint will operate as part of Reed Elsevier's LexisNexis Risk & Information Analytics Group.
